Our family can not thank the Scott’s enough for going above and beyond what any real estate team would have done. Their trusty associate Robin Cushing has played a major role in this real estate venture as well. The sale of our home and the purchasing of a new home has not come without a lot of battle scars, bumps, and losses for both ourselves and Barb & Bruce. It was a house hunt from hell... As a first time home buyer with champagne taste but a beer budget, I still wasn’t willing to settle on just anything. We are delighted with Barb's excellent handling of the sale of our house (14 days) in a tough market. She then helped us to buy our dream home, but it was a foreclosure, which I know now many realtors won't show to their clients because they are filled with obstacles and much added work for a realtor, but Barb new we loved the house and worked very hard to get it for us.
We also heard back from the staff at the law firm that worked with the disclosure. They said they had never before dealt with a realtor who had such professionalism and knew what she was doing, that was very nice to hear.

We had been watching the Victoria real estate market from Alberta dreaming of owning something wonderful even though our budget placed us in the very bottom of the price range for the kind of property we were looking at. Many properties came and sold and each new listing went up dramatically in price. We knew that in order to get into the type of property we wanted that we would have to act quickly and decisively. Both of these things are hard to do from a distance.
After contacting Barb via her website we planned a trip out to look at properties. Barb had diligently selected and screened a number of properties on our behalf. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side and a severe storm prevented us from landing in Victoria.
Back in Edmonton we sat and thought about planning another trip out. After a couple of phone conversations with Barb we decided to make an offer on a property sight unseen. We believed that the appropriate fundamentals were there but it was a bit scary to offer a purchase on a home that we had only seen photos of via a REALTOR® who we had not even met. Barb was such an excellent ambassador for us. Her informed take on the type of properties we were seeking and on the general fundamentals of the Victoria real estate market proved to be invaluable. We secured a marvelous property.
We would not hesitate to recommend Barb to anyone who requires a thoughtful, smart, informed and experienced REALTOR® who will negotiate as if they were spending their own money. Her level of servicing from the first contact through the purchase process has been second to none. We are thrilled at the outcome. I am sure that without Barb's input we may have been priced out of the type of property we were looking at and would have had to compromise our dream.
Later we did make it out to Victoria and met with Barb for the first time. Meeting her in person was like meeting an old friend. If you are contemplating purchasing Victoria real estate from a distance as we were, call Barb with confidence. That it is the next best thing to being in Victoria yourself.

"If you are reading this to get a sense if Barb is the right REALTOR® for you, I am going to tell you that she not only meets all the criteria that a Good REALTOR® should have, but exceeds them.
My wife and I were like most first time home buyers…a bit overwhelmed, apprehensive and hopeful that we would find the right person to guide us through buying our first home in a very hot market. I contacted a highly experienced and reputable Home Inspector to ask for the names of a couple of realtors who he thought were honest, sincere, had good work ethics and had a lot of experience. Barb's name came up straight away.
Barb set us up with the early MLS® email link on our first meeting which is an absolute must if you want access to listings before they hit the public website. When we started looking at houses with her there was no pressure to buy at all. There was however advice that only comes from walking through thousands of homes. She would point out good and bad points according to what our criteria was.
She had told us that when you find the right home you'll know right away and that's exactly what happened.
The next step, the negotiating process is where Barb's true character and expertise came through. Without going through the details, suffice to say that Barb's successfully negotiated a first-time offer $15,000 below asking price in this crazy hot market! The Selling REALTOR® even contacted her after the sale and told Barb there was no one else who could of done that!
True to her character she was as excited as we were. She truly loves what she does.
So...this is why I am writing. We could not be happier with Barb and our first house, the whole experience was what it should be…exciting and rewarding. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone looking for an outstanding REALTOR®, respected by her peers. Barb also happened to receive the Victoria Real Estate Board Gold Award for excellence again while we were dealing with her.

As non-residents of Canada, buying a house at a fair—never mind good—price in a market as hot as Victoria would have been impossible without Barb's dedication, persistence, keen eye, and honesty. It was clear from the beginning that Barb understood our needs and wants because she was always able to weigh the pros and cons of any property and offer an objective opinion. Properties were on the market and off again in the same day, and living overseas meant that we couldn't even discuss them before they were sold. We decided to put our trust in Barb, authorizing her to make offers on our behalf, site unseen. Although many would never even consider this as an option, I can tell you that both my wife and I are very happy with our first house: one that was immediately appraised higher than the accepted offer, something virtually unheard of in Victoria.Barb's ability to astonish and impress didn't end there. Only days before the deal was to go through, the credit union that had pre-approved us months before changed their lending policy for non-residents. In short, it meant having to come up with an additional $40,000 we didn't have. But before we could throw in the towel, Barb was able to make some phone calls, get us an extension on the offer, and put us in touch with a broker who presented us with 3 different mortgage proposals we could afford. All this while we were in western Africa!
All credit for the successful purchase of our house belongs to Barb, and, as a result, not only will she be the first person we contact when it is time to upgrade or buy our second property, we enthusiastically recommend her to everyone we know looking to buy property on Vancouver Island.
If you are still having any doubt that Barb is an exceptional person and professional, just remember we were willing to put our money where our mouth is, and if you're looking at buying a house in Victoria, you know just how much money I'm talking about.
